It is with much sadness to inform everyone that we have lost a sister in Christ, Myrena. She passed away to be with our Lord June 21. We will always remember her kindness and love for others. Thank you Myrena for showing your love for Christ and we will see you in heaven.

We were blessed to have Cedar Creek here the week of June 5th. The team helped lay 2cement floors, first for Maria and her family whose child is very ill, and for Ritza and her family which some of the funds were donated by her sponsor family. Thank you so much. The families are blessed by your love and hard work. They also painted the fence at Casa Hogar and evangelized to many families.

Also God had moved the hearts of Kyle, Steve, and Sean to profess their faith publicly while here in Choluteca. We were glad to be a part of the beginning of your new live in Christ.

There is much celebrating at Casa Hogar at it's 3 year mark. There are 2 orphan homes up with one being occupied with 2 children and 12 homes occupied with more being built, and the community park and soccer field are in progress. We cannot thank all of you enough who have helped whether it is by physical work, sponsorship, organizing the many needs, and especially by your prayers. This was Jonathan and Hayti's first Mothers Day without their mom. We first went to visit the grave site with them and had a time of prayer. We then took them swimming. This was the first time they had ever been in a pool. They enjoyed their day and finished it off with baking some cookies with Loren. Thank you God for a blessed day.

Helena and Chris are two young adult missionaries from England, who have been reading the children at Casa Hogar Bible stories and helping them memorized a Bible verse from what they were just read. They also have them do a craft that goes along with the story. Their first story was about Noahs Ark. So they were to choose an animal and where going to make a mask.

The Presentation of Certificates was April 21, 2010. The first 7th and 8th grade classes to complete the AIDS Awareness course that was written by Julie Fawcett, and taught by Loren, Jose Carlos, Melisa, and Nicole. There was a total of 87 children who participated in the class. May Gods seeds grow into their hearts.

We had a large team from the Rock here with us from April 4-10th. They had many days of construction at Casa Hogar, but also had time to visit Limon to play with the children and see the Nutrition clinic. Christmas Party in Guasaule

Saturday brought Christmas Joy and Hope to the very poor children of a community we serve called Guasaule. The community live on the edge of a river linking the boarders of Nicaragua and Honduras. The children had lots of fun, singing Christian songs, hearing the Hope of Jesus, eating lots of chicken and rice, battering a poor piñata and also the arm of one of team members Jose Carlos! They then received their Christmas presents.. These are the only presents these children receive and they all loved them. This community has been receiving help now for two years through our programme called Child Sponsorship. The children now receive food and education, health care and materials also for their schools. The children have tried so hard and are enjoying learning to read and write. Look through the photos and feel a little of their joy. Thank you to the sponsors of these children for our support and prayer throughout 2009!

King of Glory Church came out to Casa Hogar to see the projects and even help out a little bit.

Janine's Farewell

Janine came to the Choluteca church in November of 2008 to help out with Casa Hogar Vida and the other projects of the church.

Not only did she have an impact on the children and those within the projects of the church, she made an impact on everyone she came into contact with.

Her Joy kept us smiling, and her energy came in handy playing with the kids.

One of here favorite places was the clinic in Limon. She built a special bond with the children there and you could truly see that language is no barrier to love.

Thank you Janine for all of your hard work.

What a blessing it was for Janine's mother to share Janine's final week with her.

Elaine came to visit us from England. It was a great blessing to have her here in Janine's last week. To see Elaine's joy and passion for the children and their health was amazing.

She brought joy and a smile everywhere she went.

HIV Education Program at South International School

Norma and Marcus came from a very tough family backgrounds. They both come from broken homes and before moving to Casa Hogar they lived in a shed made of broken pieces of wood with a floor made of dirt. Without the help of the Great Commission Church in Choluteca and Casa Hogar these two would never have a chance to have a home of their own.

We close the ceremony in prayer, thanking God for the blessing of this new home and asking him to guard this family and care for them and their new life.

The Rock's Visit to Honduras.

The Rock Church from Missouri came to Honduras for 10 days. They helped with lots of work, including Working at Casa Hogar and helping move a new family into their house. They also helped in Limon with the Children and at the Church with the construction of the new Church extension. They Evangelised at the rubbish dump, and the building of a new bathroom and pila for the Ortez family, was something that touched everyone in the teams heart.

The Rock Central Methodist Church came to Honduras for one week. They helped with work at Casa Hogar and in Limon, painting the fence around the play area, and playing with the children. Yasaira from the Ortez Family needed a hair cut as she needs to go to school. But her head and hair were in such a bad state, that she would not have been allowed to go to school and the kids would have called her names. So Julie went to her house and washed all her hair and performed her best work on Yasaira's hair. Here are some pictures of what happened that day:

Three Miracles.

Three weeks ago, Carla gave birth to twins, two little boys. This was due to the Casa Hogar Team visiting Carla daily and bringing her food and medication, and also ensuring that she takes the correct medicine every day.
Thanks for everyones prayers for Carla and all the help recieved.
The Doctors in the HIV clinic are amazed and say it is a miracle that both the babies and Carla are healthy and recovering well.
The babies are very small, one weighs 3.4 lbs and the other is 4.2 lbs. Carla is back at home now and both the boys are doing well and getting bigger.

The Campus Crusades came to Honduras for one week. They had a very busy week, going up two different mountains, one to stay the night and the other to Evangelise and give out medical checks to the community. They also helped with work at Casa Hogar Vida, and because this team had some Doctors and Nurses in it, they gave out medical checks and medicine to the residents of Choluteca.

We give God all the glory in this one year Anniversary of the commencement of Grupos de auto apoyo.

We have learnt alot over this past year together. We are learning to grow as a family,

learn and praise God,
laugh together,

weep together,

share together.

We have faced many situations together and have come through stronger than before as we have learnt to approach our problems with Jesus as our guide.

As I listened to the testamonies of many women in the groups, they gave God the glory for the changes that happened in their lives through his project Casa Hogar Vida - Gran Comision Church, the people who faithfully serve God and help their needs - shows his love. I felt very humbled to witness Gods love in action.

The Ortez Family!

The Ortez family is a new family that is being helped through the Casa Hogar Vida (CHV) program. We met the family on the 22nd of January 2009 through a Doctor at a clinic that helps those infected with the HIV virus. The Doctor was very concerned about the health of the children who live with the family especially a 10 year old called Yasaira who is infected with HIV.

This is Yasaira and some of her family at their house.

We have seen extreme poverty here in Choluteca and some bad cases of neglect but non can compare with what we saw on our arrival. Every child has scabies, and ten have another type of parasite which eats in to the skin leaving sores which ooze puss. The hair of the children was stuck together with the puss even a baby of three months old was covered.

As you can see this baby is covered from head to foot with scabies and parasites.

The house is home for twelve people, the first day we were there the only thing they had to eat was a small iguana. The baby’s bed is an old sack. Everywhere there is dirt and many of the children sleep on a mud floor.

On the 23rd January, some of the CHV team returned with some food for the family and creams for the scabies, our concern was that because of the extent of the parasites the root of the problem would need to be addressed, but first we had to take emergency measures.

The Children were in alot of pain and their skin is very badly infected.

On returning from visiting the family, we spoke with Pastor Giovanny who is also a doctor and on the 26th he went to visit the family.
He said that it was one of the worst cases he had seen. Giovanny then carried out a full medical check so he could say what was needed from the pharmacy.

The following day some other people from the team returned to bring the medicines Giovanny prescribed and also fresh water, bleach and soap to bath regularly. The bathing of the children begun, also a change of clothing has been provided and the family are to receive water on a regular basis. The aim is to now monitor progress if any, and evaluate the next steps that need to be taken. We would really appreciate your prayers and other way you feel God is prompting you to help.

Luz and her family and Ramon and his family moved into their new Holmes on Casa Hogar Vida. Both families have suffered greatly in the past and to see them being blessed with a new home each was a very precious moment.

Luz has three boys, Eduardo, David and Ian. Her first husband left her, her second husband committed suicide after finding out he had HIV. He could not cope with the fact that he had given Luz the virus.Luz loved her husband and suffered greatly from not only the loss but from stigma and discrimination. Her own mother did not understand and made her sleep outside there house and would not allows Luz to touch her own son.Luz for the last 17 months lived in a part of a house which we would only put animals in.

It was also another special day for this family as it was Ian's first birthday. This was the cake that he was given.

Ramon moved into his house the day after, here is his story and some pictures.

Ramon was an alcoholic, and he beat his second wife Sonia and was always in some sort of trouble from the police. He contracted HIV from sleeping with other women. Eventually his daughter became seriously ill and nearly died, this is when Sonia found out Vicky, Bryan and herself had HIV. God came into their lives, unfortunately the couple had separated but the change in Ramon is great.

He is re-married to another lady called Sonia and has a healthy little girl called Dani. he can quote the bible and trys to help others find God.Luz, Sonia (Ramon’s second wife) and Ramon are all leaders of Casa Hogar’s self help groups. They try to bring God, HIV awareness, love and compassion into the lives of others.Thank you to all who have made this possible . May God bless you abundantly.

While Maple Grove was in Honduras, there timetable was very full, the team helped alot with Casa Hogar, with painting and helping move Luz and Ramon move into their new houses.

The Rock church are from Missouri and they came to stay for one week. They visited a community called El Palomar, the team went to visit different houses, wherever they felt the Lord was prompting them to go, to share his message.

They visited a few families and some of the people made the most important decision in there lifes and accepted Christ.

They also helped alot in Casa Hogar Vida with moving Pila's for the houses and painting the inside of the houses.

Every other thursday, we have an alternative Christian group 'de Manuelidades; it is different to the self help groups as its for those infected and those not. We hope that they will learn how to make different types of crafts.

In the future we hope to be able to train and employ all these women, giving them back some self esteem and a purpose to life, enabling them to support their families. This community development work helps bond the women together, fighting against the usual stigma and discrimination.

Please pray for support for these groups as this will eventually help them to be independent and rebuild their lives.

Penny and Ken spent two weeks hard labour with the Fawcetts, whilst trying to discern the will of God on their call to Honduras.

The team Illin life from Illinois, helped to move Oneyda from her old house into her new house in Limon. Two of her children are now attending the day care and one is in the clinic. Also Oneyda
started working on the 26th of January in the tortilla factory.

Joy at Christmas

We all had a really fun day at the very first Casa Hogar Christmas Party. Casa Hogar helps the poor and those infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. We prayed that it would be a special occasion that would celebrate the True Joy of Christmas; in remembrance of the birthday of our Saviour Jesus Christ.

We also pray that the party helped bond the different family groups together in the love of Christ and that together it will be remembered throughout the year especially when times are difficult.

We Would like to wish you all a very Happy God filled Christmas, please accept our sincere gratitude of those you have served this year in Casa Hogar Vida.

Start of the Agricultural Project

The Casa Hogar team are really excited about the start of the agriculture project. Work has started on a Irregation system, and on this land, there is to be various fruits and vegetables grown which will help to give the children in CHV a balanced diet whilst providing some financial support. The aim is to plant around 1-2 acres each time and from this reinvest.

A small team from The Heritage Church in Ohio Visit Gran Comision Church in Choleteca

Recently we had a small team from The Heritage Church in Ohio visit the Gran Comision Church here in Choluteca.

On one of the days that they were here, they visited a family that the church had met 3 months ago. The family used to live on the roadside, and two of the children were killed by being run over by cars and one little boy who is still alive was hit by a car, half his head was crushed and is now deformed but they managed to save his eye.

The children are severely malnurished and many are to such an extent that they are mentally disengaged with what is going on around them, and do not respond to any form of mental stimulation. They have many infirmities that is associated with malnutricion and the family are very poor but they try very hard to make money for there family.

On very good days, the family will earn 75 limperas but this is not very often and other days they earn nothing and this happens quite frequently, and unfortunately this is when the family will have nothing to eat. The church has been helping with food when it can and the leadership has been praying very hard as to what could be done to help the family.

It was our prayer that maybe the family could be moved to Limon which means that the three children who are severely malnurished can attend GCLA nutrition clinic and the parents could work in the bread factory and tortilla factory. but we where unsure how this would happen because we had no funds to do this, but God had everything in hand.

The team from Ohio looked at the needs of the family and have pledged support to move the family and pay for the children to attend the clinic.

The leadership of the church here had been taught by Pastor Giovanny that we need to fall in line with God's plans rather than try and get Him to fall in line with what we want. This is a great example of God showing us the way, and as usual He is good.

We say Thank-you very much to the team for everything they have done and for all there support, This is just one family, sadly there are thousands like it in Honduras.

On Monday night Pastor Geovanny asked the team to his home to eat dinner together. After the meal, Pastor Steve presented a banner made by Brenda Dicks, Julie's mother, to the church. Pastor Geovanny was very thankful for the banner. It will look great in the church!

Early Tuesday morning, the team began their long travel back to England. We are very grateful to have the team here serving with us! We have enjoyed the time with you!

The Adventure Continues...

As the two weeks come to an end, the team has been continuing to serve in different ways. On Tuesday the 25th the team will head back to Tegucigalpa to travel home to England. One missionary, Janine Wong, will stay behind. Janine, from Christ Church, will be serving in the church in Choluteca for the next 6 months. She will live with the Fawcetts' and work with many of the projects within the church. As she begins her adventure in Choluteca, Aimee Paule, a missionary from The Rock Church, will be ending her 3 months in Choluteca to go back to Missouri. Please pray for these women.

House Visits

On Tuesday the team went to many different houses to visit people connected with Casa Hogar Vida. We went to Guasuale to hand out food and visit the children. We also visited a couple different families around Choluteca. First we visited Carla Cruz's house to take her some fruit and check on her health. Carla has two boys, Brian and Jorge, and is pregnant with twins.

Brian had some sores on his leg. Faye helped to clean him up.

She thinks the sores are from mosquito bites, just scratched a bit too much.

After visiting Carla and her family, the team went to Guasaule to visit some sponsor children and hand out food.

After visiting the families in Guasaule, we went to visit another family that lives in Choluteca. This family is really poor. The children are severely malnourished. We gave the family some food for the week.

This week we have been working on many different projects. Rosie, Brenda, and Julie have been working with the women and men in the Self Help Groups, teaching them how to make Christmas crafts.

On Sunday we all went to the beach to celebrate Casey's 15th birthday. We lathered up with a thick layer of SPF 50 and hopped into the Pacific Ocean. The weather was really great. The sun was really hot, and other than a few sunburns, we had a great time.
