Every other week, Casa Hogar’s self help groups, Genesis and Emmanuel, meet to talk about various things. Last week group Genesis discussed Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Charlie, a missionary from England who is also a nurse, encouraged the men and women in group Genesis to talk about their hopes and dreams and the plans God may have for their futures. Each one of them painted their hands and placed their handprint on a tablecloth with their hopes and dreams written beside their hands. It was a beautiful way to recognize God’s plans for their lives and their dreams of their futures together in community.
While the parents were doing this, the children began their second meeting of Los Niños del Rey, or Children of the King. The children are going through a 10 week study about good health and honoring God. Two weeks ago we talked about eating a balanced meal. This week we taught the kids the importance of brushing their teeth.
We began by giving them a lollypop to show how food can make our mouths dirty. Then we gave each child a toothbrush and some toothpaste and taught them how to brush their teeth, reminding them to brush 3 times a day. Some of the children never had owned a toothbrush, and they were excited to have one for themselves. After they finished brushing their teeth, we recited Psalm 51:10 and encouraged them to memorize it for the next meeting.
Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
