Grupos de auto apoyo, Sept. 28th Meeting

A couple weeks ago, Los Grupos de Auto Apoyo (the self help groups), joined together for a special Sunday presentation. The adult groups were led by Charlie, a nurse from England, Julie and Loren. Charlie taught the groups various health education information that would help them in taking care of themselves and their families.

She taught them the importance of brushing their teeth, and that not brushing their teeth causes bad breath, tooth pain, and other problems. She also taught them the correct position to place a family member that is sick, one that kept them on their side rather than their backs to protect them from choking. Finally she taught them how do perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and the Heimlick Maneuver if a family member were choking.

It was a busy afternoon for the adults.

The children were busy in their group as well. They were led by Aimee, Casey, and Alan in a study about Psalm 139:14 "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." We explained to them their specialness and uniqueness in God's eyes, that he perfecting, wondering, and specially made each one of them there. Then we passed out some plastic plates and a back full of colorful magic markers and encouraged each child to create a face on the plate that was unique and special, like each one of them.

The result was a bunch of masterpieces.
